Taiwanese arrested for firearms at Cebu


Three firearms and various magazines concealed in a metal miniature planes and a metal stand were seized from a Taiwanese at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the PNP-Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) said on Sunday.

Avsegroup director, Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas, said the interception occurred when the passenger entered the Mactan terminal and passed the initial security check last May 29 to catch his Cebu Pacific flight bound for Manila.

Balagtas said the seized firearms were a Caspian .45 caliber pistol, a 9mm Ingram M11, and a .22 caliber Black Widow handgun. Also seized were two magazines for the Ingram and one magazine for the Caspian.

Balagtas added Avsegroup’s 7th Aviation Security Unit personnel in Cebu City did not identify the suspect citing follow-up operations.

The suspect, who could not present any documents during investigation, was brought to Lapu-Lapu City police office for temporary detention prior the filing of the appropriate charges.
