• Taiwanese NGO donates P3M to quake victims

Following the government of Taiwan’s pledge to donate $100,000 as post-disaster relief efforts for earthquake victims in Bohol and Cebu, the country’s representative office in the Philippines, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), has coordinated the Taiwanese community in the Philippines to voluntarily and promptly extend a helping hand to those people in need.

TECO Philippines has sent David Chen to travel with the Tzu Chi Foundation, an NGO charity organization from Taiwan based in the Philippines, to Bohol to conduct relief efforts and evaluate rehabilitation requirements and measures.

To speed up assistance, Teco coordinated with the Philippine branch of the Tzu Chi Foundation to bring P3 million cash and 1,000 blankets for the earthquake victims and to evaluate rehabilitation requirements and measures.

The Tzu-Chi foundation—a nongovernmental charity organization based in Taiwan—has long been helping the Philippines in numerous relief operations, among them a P70 million donation in aid of Markina City’s recovery from damages caused by Typhoons Ondoy and Peng-Peng in 2009.
