TAIPEI: Chien-Ming Wang, a right-handed pitcher from Taiwan who won 55 games over five years for the New York Yankees from 2005, has signed a contract with Toronto Blue Jays, media reported Sunday (Monday in Manila). Wang opted out of his minor league contract and was granted release by Major League Baseball on Friday, Fox Sports said on its website, citing a major league source. It said the Blue Jays are reportedly looking to have Wang start on Tuesday against the White Sox. Wang’s agent confirmed the report, carried on the front pages of Taiwan’s four leading Chinese-language newspapers.
