The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), through the Philippine Cultural Education Program (PCEP), calls for contributions to “Talas,” a transdiciplinary academic journal on culture-based education.
The journal is envisioned as educational space for critical discussions and creative dialogues among scholars, practitioners and culture bearers in various fields such as Philippine arts, heritage, history, culture and education.
The journal welcomes scholarly articles, literary works, visual arts and performance documentation, and book reviews, which may be written in Filipino or English. Literary works in other Philippine languages must be accompanied by an abstract in English or Filipino. As a refereed journal, the accuracy of facts and all opinions will be the responsibility of the authors, and don not necessarily reflect the views of the editors and the NCCA-PCEP.
Interested contributors should submit a one-page proposal to PCEP Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org on or before March 30. For those shortlisted, the secretariat will send out invitations for full manuscripts by April 28.
Manuscripts should not be more than 25 pages, including endnotes and works citations, double-spaced. Exceptions are given to creative works and semi-monographic materials. Articles must be sent as e-mail attachment (in Word or PageMaker format), with three hard copies to be sent via mail, addressed to Joseph “Sonny” Cristobal, director of PCEP.
The complete manuscripts must be submitted by July 28. Reviews, editorial decisions and revisions will be due on August 25. The special issue of Talas Journal will be published by October.
