DEFENDING champion Talk ‘N Text faces Rain or Shine while San Mig Coffee meets Barako Bull today in the resumption of the 39th Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Tropang Texters are seeking for their fourth win in five matches when they collide with the Elasto Painters at 8 p.m. while Rain or Shine, bearing a 4-2 win-loss slate, is midway in the elimination phase.
San Mig Coffee, the reigning Governor’s cup champion takes on Energy Cola at 5:45 p.m. Barako Bull is currently occupying the seventh spot with 2-4 card while the Coffee Mixers of coach Tim Cone with only one win to show against five losses are in the ninth spot.
Meanwhile, June Mar Fajardo of Petron and Jayson Castro of Talk ‘N Text are currently leading the statistics in the ongoing elimination round of the season opening conference.
The 5’11 Castro, a third overall pick by Talk ‘N Text in 2008, topped the scoring department with 21.4 points in five games while the 6’10 Fajardo posted 17.4 rebounds a game.
Jay Washington of Glo-balport is second in scoring with 20.8 points followed by Japeth Aguilar (19.8), Glo-balport’s Sol Mercado (18.5), San Mig Coffee’s Mark Barroca (17.8), Meralco’s Gary David (17.5), Petron’s Marcio Lassiter (16.6), Arwind Santos (16.4), Globalport rookie Terrence Romeo (15.8) and Air21’s Joseph Yeo (15.6). Fajardo is not far behind with 14.5 points per game.
LA Tenorio of Ginebra is the assist leader with a record of 8.4 a game; while Mark Cardona of Air 21 is no. 1 in steals with 2.6 average per outing. Japeth Aguilar also of Ginebra excelled in shot blocks with 3.6 average per outing relegating Fajardo to second with 2.86.
