Tamaraws eye 5th win, share of second spot

FAR Eastern University (FEU) guns for fifth win and a share of second place when it battles winless Adamson University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tamaraws, who hold a 4-2 win-loss record, will face the Falcons at 4 p.m.

FEU is currently in fourth behind Ateneo de Manila University (6-1), National University (5-2) and De La Salle University (5-2).

FEU ripped NU, 71-62, last Saturday behind the stellar plays of Carl Cruz who had 16 points in that game.

Despite having the best wing and frontline players led by Mike Tolomia, Carl Cruz, Mac Belo and 6’6 American center Anthony Hargrove, Tamaraws head coach Nash Racela believes the Falcons would surely keep fighting to try to get their first win.

“We’re not going to set them aside,” said Racela. “We just have to play our best against any team here.”

The Falcons of rookie head coach Kenneth Duremdes, are the only winless team so far in the league with six-game losing skid including their loss to University of the Philippines.

Adamson is expected to rely on Jensen Rios and Don Trollano.

In the 2 p.m. game, University of the East (UE) faces University of Santo Tomas (UST).

The Red Warriors, who will bank on point guard Shej Roi Sumang and Charles Mammie, are hoping to end a four-game losing streak that earn them a 2-4 win-loss log.

UST has a 3-3 card.
