• TEACHERS’ GROUP CALLS FOR P10,000-SALARY INCREASE

    Public school teachers on Sunday called on Congress to legislate an increase in their salaries and benefits after the Aquino administration said that the government cannot grant the salary increase demands of private and public sector workers. “The latest increase in our salaries through legislation was enacted in 2009,” said Benjo Basas, national chairperson of Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC).  “Since then, the government is seemingly reluctant to tackle the salary increase proposals for public school teachers and government employees,” Basas lamented.
