THE Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday said there would be no delay in the
distribution of the honoraria of teachers who served in Monday’s elections.

According to Education Secretary Armin Lusitro, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has already released the money for the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs).

“Walang delay sa honorarium kasi na-download na ng Land Bank yung funds yesterday,” Luistro told reporters.

The DepEd however said those who have no bank accounts will not be able to get their pay immediately.

“Yung teachers sa island schools, makaka experience ng delay since walang electronic means to transfer funds. They have to personally to go the local Comelec office to claim their honorarium,” the DepEd chief said.

The education department on Monday said that some 40,000 teachers served as BEIs.

Election inspectors and DepEd supervisors will get a P3,000 honorarium, an extra P500 for the final testing and sealing of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines and P500 transportation allowance.

The support staff will get an honorarium of P1, 500, and those who will compose the Random Manual Audit Team, P2, 000.
