TEACHERS SAY FOUR-DAY CLASS UNNECESSARY

The Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC) said the proposal for a four-day school week of the Metro Development Authority is unnecessary but it keeps an open mind about it as long as teaching and learning time for teachers and students are observed. TDC head Benjo Basas said elementary and high school students, especially those in schools not directly affected by the projects, could not ease the traffic situation in the metropolis once the projects are fully implemented this month. “They are actually enrolled in the schools within their immediate community. If we are to pursue this four-day class a week, then we have to really study the impact of compressing instructional time to 4 days instead of five under the K-to-12 program,” Basas said.
