• Tebow eyes baseball career with Mets deal

LOS ANGELES: Former Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has signed a minor-league deal with the New York Mets as he aims to pursue a career in baseball, it was confirmed Thursday (Friday in Manila). The 29-year-old former Heisman Trophy player — who has not played for an NFL team since being released by the Philadelphia Eagles after their pre-season in 2015 — is hoping to switch sports to baseball. He held a workout in Los Angeles on August 30 attended by 46 scouts from professional baseball teams, even though he has not played the sport since 2005. Under the terms of his Mets deal, Tebow will report to the one-month instructional league in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
