A 19-year-old marijuana cultivator was arrested by combined forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) during a two-day marijuana eradication operation in Ilocos Sur.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Victor Ganase, a resident of Barangay Dinwende West, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur.
From January 18 to 19, 2014, PDEA agents, the police and military men destroyed five marijuana plantation sites covering 3.5 hectares in Barangay Din–wende East, Ilocos Sur.
The team uprooted and burned on site approximately 100,000 fully grown marijuana plants, and 500,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings worth P40,088,000, while kilos of dried marijuana leaves and buds, a bundle of marijuana stems and a weighing scale were discovered at the back of Ganase’s house.
The suspect will be charged with possession and cultivation of dangerous drugs.
