One of four people shot and wounded in the French Pacific island territory of New Caledonia this week, allegedly by a friend after a night of drinking, has died of his injuries, prosecutors said Thursday.

The 19-year-old had been shot in the head and thigh on Tuesday in Kamere, a popular area in the north of the capital Noumea, said state prosecutor Claire Lanet. He died in hospital on Wednesday night.
