Chaos reigned on Thursday at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office as the alleged rape victim of Vhong Navarro hurled her sunglasses at the TV host-comedian and threw a bottle cap in his direction.
Navarro went to the prosecutor’s office to submit his rejoinder to the third rape case filed against him.
The event turned into a circus when Florenciana Cornejo, grandmother of model Deniece Cornejo who accused Navarro of raping her, and their supporters shouted invectives at the actor.
Roxanne Cabanero, a beauty pageant contestant who also claims she has been raped by Navarro, told reporters she was at the prosecutor’s office to confront the actor and support Cornejo.
As Navarro and his escorts made their way to the elevator, Cabanero threw her sunglasses at Navarro, but hit a bodyguard instead.
Navarro ignored Cabanero’s antics and remained silent as shouts of rapists echoed across the fourth floor of the Hall of Justice building where the prosecutor’s office was.
But it did not end there. Nonong Co, a consultant at the QC Prosecutor’s Office and uncle of Cornejo, had a heated exchanged with one of Navarro’s lawyers who questioned why Co was holding a placard with the words “Justice for the rape victims. Jail the serial rapist.’’
Co said he had the right to express himself freely.
Navarro refused to divulge the contents of his rejoinder to the media.
The rape complaint has been submitted to Assistant City Prosecutor Nilda Ordono, who will decide if the complaint will be elevated to the court.
In April, a certain Margarita Fajardo, who worked as a double for a telenovela that starred Navarro, also filed rape charges against the actor.
Fajardo said the alleged rape occurred in 2009, during the last few weeks of the taping. She said that during a break in the taping, Navarro lured her into an SUV.
