Jeron Teng tallied his second triple-double performance, leading Flying V to a 97-59 demolition of hapless Zark’s Burger in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) D-League Foundation Cup on Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Teng netted 20 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Thunder to their ninth straight win as many games.
Thomas Torres added 14 markers, four boards and five assists for Flying V, which was already assured of an outright semifinals seat with aleague-leading 9-0 slate.
Jarelan Tampus chipped in 14 points on six-of-seven shooting from the field while Aris Dionisio contributed 10 markers for the Thunder.
“We just wanted to keep our form and sharpness as we go to the playoffs. The players did their best and I am happy with that,” said Flying V coach Eric Altamirano.
The Thunder started with a 10-0 burst then launched a 30-14 attack in the second period to carry a 56-29 advantage going to the break. Flying V stretched its lead to 43 points, 97-54, a little over a minute left in the game.
Ex-pro Mark Cardona led the Jawbreakers with 20 points and seven rebounds. RR De Leon added 13 points, six boards and five assists for Zark’s Burger, which ended its maiden campaign with a 1-9 slate.
