Tennis superstars to play in Manila

The world’s top tennis players will be arriving in the country for the Manila Leg of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) series scheduled on November 28 to 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Heading the list of tennis superstars lined up for the Manila Leg are Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Daniel Nestor, Kirsten Flipkens and Carlos Moya, who will play for Manila Mavericks along with Filipino-American Treat Huey.

The three-day competition will include four teams representing four countries across Asia that will vie for the grand title and take home the winning prize of $1 million. These include the Indian Pacers, United Arab Emirates Royals, Singapore Slammers, and Manila Mavericks, with each team represented by international tennis bigwigs.

Other tennis stars representing the other teams are Serena Williams, Nick Kyrgios, Daniela Hantuchova, Tomas Berdych and Patrick Rafter (Singapore Slammers); Ana Ivanovic, Fabrice Santoro, and Gael Monfils (Indian Aces); and Eugenie Bouchard, Richard Gasquet, and Goran Ivanisevic (UAE Royals).

Each day comprises of two matches, with five sets per match. Matches include: Men’s, Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Legends Singles.

The schedules are as follows: November 28: India vs. Singapore at 4 p.m. and Philippines vs. UAE at 7:30 p.m.; November 29: UAE vs. Singapore at 4 p.m. and Philippines vs. India at 7:30 p.m.; and November 30: UAE vs. India at 4 p.m. and Philippines vs. Singapore at 7:30 p.m.
