THE provincial government of Negros Occidental, together with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), launched the “training on wheels’ project, which aims to bring technical-vocational education (tech-voc) to indigent out-of-school youth in the province who cannot afford to go to school. “We know the hardships of some students about the lack of money for transportation in going to schools. Some could not leave their homes because they are taking care of their siblings. Others are discouraged because of the long trek and travel to schools,” Tesda Director General Joel Villanueva said. The mobile bus is equipped with computers, laptops and other learning materials and equipment relevant to the courses being offered.
