Filipino-American Bobby Ray Parks Jr. was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks’ affiliated team Texas Legends as their 25th overall pick in the second round of National Basketball Association (NBA) Developmental League Rookie Draft on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

Parks, who was a two-time Most Valuable Player in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, attended this year’s NBA Rookie Draft but wasn’t selected by any team. He joined the Dallas Mavericks during the Summer Training Camp.

He averaged 3.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in almost 10 minutes of playing time for Dallas during the Summer Camp.

According also to the NBA D-League website, Parks was drafted together with Indian player 52nd overall pick center Satnam Singh. The Texas Legends ended at fourth place in the Southwestern Division with 22-28 win-loss record.

Parks is the second Filipino player to be drafted in the NBA D-League after Japeth Aguilar was selected by the Santa Cruz Warriors in the seventh round of 2012 Draft. Santa Cruz Warriors is affiliated with the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

Aguilar, who is now playing for Ginebra in the Philippine Basketball Association, did not make it to the regular games of the NBA D-League after being waived.
