TALK ‘N Text is in for a fierce battle to gain entry into the quarterfinals when it face the Kia Carnival today in the 40th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Tropang Texters, now occupying the 9th spot with Ginebra that is also bearing a 4-6 slate can still make it to the playoffs if they win over Kia that is bearing a 4-5 card. But their fate would really depend on the outcome of the remaining games of Meralco (5-4) Purefoods (4-5), Ginebra and NLEX Road Warriors (2-7).
The Tropang Texters will face Kia at 4:15 p.m, while NLEX Road Warriors will take on cellar dweller Blackwater Elite at 7 p.m.
After losing to Purefoods Star Hotshots, 93-105, on Wednesday, coach Jong Uichico said that they would just do their best to win their remaining games and hopefully advance into the next round.
Only eight of the 12 teams will advance into the quarterfinals and the top four squads will carry a twice-to-beat advantage. In case of a tie among teams at the end of the single round robin elimination, it will be resolved through the league’s quotient system and no playoff games will be played.
