• Texters, Warriors battle for survival today

SISTER teams Talk ‘N Text and NLEX Road Warriors will battle for survival when they face separate foes today in the 40th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.

With only three games remaining in their elimination round campaign, the reigning Commissioner’s Cup titlist Talk ‘N Text is locked with Ginebra Kings at the 9th spot with 3-5 win-loss slate while NLEX is occupying the 11th with 2-6 card.

The Tropang Texters, who are in a four-game losing skid, hope for a win when they face cellar dweller Blackwater Elite at 4:15 p.m. while Coach Boyet Fernandez’ Road Warriors will be seeking for their third win when they face Globalport Batang Pier at 7 p.m.

Uichico’s Texters are expected to have an easy sailing over Blackwater, whose import 6’1 Marcus Douthit is now playing in the ongoing 28th Southeast Asian Games basketball event in Singapore.

But even with Douthit present, coach Leo Isaac’s Elite suffered a humiliating 85-123 beating from Rain or Shine on June 3 plunging them to the bottom of the standings with just a win to show, 1-6. Their lone victory was over Ginebra, 83-77, on May 16 in Dipolog City.
