Texters whip Hotshots to stay on top


Talk ‘N Text blasted the Star Hotshots, 115-105, to claim a league-leading 9-1 win-loss record in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 41 Governors Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Sunday.

Larry Fonacier scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds while Jayson Castro had 21 points and five assists as Talk ‘N Text tightened its hold of the top spot. The Tropang Texters are already assured of twice-to-beat bonus in the quarterfinals.

Rookie Moala Tautuaa added 16 points and six rebounds while import Mychal Lamar Ammons piled up 14 points and 17 rebounds with three blocks. Asian import Michael Madanly and Troy Rosario contributed 10 points each also for the Tropang Texters.

“We are still waiting for our placing will be and if which team will facing in the playoffs,” said TNT coach Jong Uichico. “In the meantime, we have to keep our momentum going, high level intensity we are trying to bring in the next round.”

The Hotshots fell to 2-8 record.

Import Joel Wright and Peter June Simon led the Hotshots with 27 and 20 points, respectively.
