Thais launch trafficking probe after nine babies found

BANGKOK: Thai police on Friday said they have launched a human trafficking probe after a Japanese man, believed to be the father of nine babies found in mysterious circumstances in a Bangkok apartment, left the country. Investigators suspect five more babies — all from surrogate mothers — had been cared for at the plush suburban property but had already been taken out of Thailand by the time the nursery was discovered on Tuesday.
