Galleria Duemila will host Nelfa Querubin’s A Passion for Clay book launch on March 2. Co-authored by Patrick Flores and Imelda Cajipe Endaya, the book positions the artist’s contribution to the history and progress of Philippine contemporary ceramic art.
While centering on the artist’s materials and techniques, the book also chronicles Querubin’s personal evolution as woman artist and her encompassing career as printmaker, painter, and longstanding body of work as potter.
In the early years of her artistic career, Querubin delved into cartography, graphic design, and printmaking. She developed an affinity to ceramic pottery in the early 1970s and has since been devoted to the medium. The artist reveres the complex medium for its “complete freedom” and its “absence of rules.”
The Passion for Clay book launch will coincide with an exhibition of 15 ceramic pieces from Querubin. It will be held at The Lobby at the Ayala Museum Greenbelt Park in Makati City.
