AS the newest love team on the block, Julia Barretto and Iñigo Pascual know they have a lot to prove. And so, as they starred in their very first big screen pairing, the young actors—both children of showbiz stalwarts—made sure they gave their best performances in the Star Cinema-Viva Films co-production, Para Sa Mga Hopeless Romantic.
As Mary and Ryan in the movie, “JulNigo” as their tandem is now called, they both admitted they were faced with challenging roles—to be modern day star-crossed lovers in the romantic-comedy, which also starred Nadine Lustre and James Reid.
As the movie wrapped up its run this week, Julia is very happy with the feedback the production received. “It’s so overwhelming and nakakatuwa lang kasi yung hardwork na binigay namin sa movie, it was all worth it,” says the latest Barretto beauty to go into showbiz.
Iñigo, on the other hand, says it was a dream come true to be able to work on such a project.
“I’m just so thankful for the opportunity to have been part of Hopeless Romantic,” he enthuses.
Julia added that she is comfortable to be paired with Iñigo as she knows him very well now. Iñigo, on the other hand, says Julia has always been a friend who encourages him to pursue his passion for acting. The actors’ team up first saw promise in highly rated episodes of Maalala Mo Kaya and Wansapanatym Presents Lusis.
And from the looks of their fans’ all out support for Para sa Mga Hopeless Romantic, it seems like their team up will be more visible in the coming days what with their evident rapport and chemistry on screen. Of course, a solo movie for “JulNigo” is the goal, according to the young stars, but in the meantime, they are very excited to let their fans know that they are soon to star in their first teleserye And I Love You So on ABS-CBN.
“There’s so much more to come!” Julia ends with a promise.
