Teacher Georcelle introduces new dance fitness program
Georcelle Mandapat-Sy, the woman behind the renowned G-Force Dance Group, unveiled another new dimension to her talent as choreographer, as she opened the summer with a new dance fitness regimen, which she personally innovated for women.
Called the “White Shirt Love,” the combination of moves not only aims to make women healthy, but also seeks to “make them feel sexy inside and out.”
“White Shirt Love is a sensual class that I am offering. It’s a dance fitness regimen, and it’s my first time to handle this kind of a class,” said the famous celebrity choreographer.
Teacher Georcelle conducts this special class behind closed doors, and asks participants to wear a white shirt preferably paired with shorts.
“Gagamitin yung white shirt sa mga moves na hindi mo alam nato-tone na yong arms mo,” she enthused
Other body parts, which White Shirt Love can trim and firm include the belly, legs, and buttocks, which are usually the most common problem areas in women.
Inspired by moms
According to the expert dancer and health buff, the dance class is an effective workout program for slimming down, as well as boosting one’s confidence.
In fact, Teacher Georcelle revealed that she originally designed White Shirt Love for mothers, and initially named it “Foxy Moms.”
“It’s a dance fitness I designed originally for moms, kasi napagdaanan ko rin yung time after manganak. You feel undesirable. [But] more than being undesirable, yung getting back into shape ang mahirap. Nag-struggle ako, especially since I’m a dancer,” explained the mother of three. Teacher Georcelle has a daughter aged 13, and two boys aged 9 and 4.
“But now, not only moms ang pwedeng mag-participate. Open to all women and women at heart ang classes. No men allowed [though], because it’s sensual,” she added. “In my class, I really want my students to feel very comfortable.”
The program officially began on March 31 and Teacher Georcelle was surprised to find a roomful of professionals. Several celebrities also enrolled for private White Shirt Love classes, among them Iza Calzado, Rajo Laurel and Vicky and Cristalle Belo.
Asked why she developed her very own dance fitness, she answered, “We all know that Zumba nowadays is a hit in the Philippines. So I thought to myself, why don’t I start something that’s our own.”
The second batch of White Shirt Love classes begins on April 28 and runs until May 10, from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the G-Force Dance Center in Quezon City.
For the kids
Besides her personal dance program for women, Teacher Georcelle also presented her studio’s summer dance workshops for children.
Adding on to her popular summer dance programs that range from hip-hop to K-pop, the G-Force Dance Project 2014 is running “Me and My Little Force,” is open for very young children from 3 to 5 years old.
“[These younger] kids can join as long as they have adults to accompany them. Even my youngest is joining with his yaya,” Teacher Georcelle said.
As a mother, Teacher Georcelle is happy that her studio is liveliest every summer when children are around.
“It’s really fun in the studio because you can feel the vibe, the energy of the kids. And our summer classes have really become a family affair as the parents make it a point to watch their children during recital,” she concluded.
A grand recital for all summer classes is slated on May 29 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
