Gen. Trias, Cavite: To usher in its 118th anniversary in October, The Manila Times held its 1st President’s Cup golf tournament at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club Aoki course here.
August Cruz carded a 69 to rule Division 1, followed by Elmer Ottua, also with 69, and Fidel Portillo with a 70. Pete Faytaren dominated Division 2 with a 71 followed by Dick Samson also with a 71 and Joel Liboon with a 72.
Judge Pio Pasia emerged as the winner in Division 3 with a 73 followed by Alfredo Javellana, also with a 73, and Max Paca with a 74.
Ronel Tagaa posted the lowest gross with a 70 while Mate Don notched the lowest net with a 69.
“The purpose of this event really is to say thank you to all our friends and supporters, and to promote developments. One of the developments is The Manila Times’ opinion section is now No. 1 and we take pride in that. Hopefully, we would go on as the No.1 newspaper in the country one day. Besides, this event is also one of the highlights of our 118th anniversary,” The Manila Times President and CEO Dante “Klink” Ang 2nd said.
