Third telco aspirants are against the Finance department-backed proposal to conduct an auction-based search for a challenger to the PLDT-Globe duopoly, overwhelmingly expressing a preference for the highest committed level of service approach.
Fifteen telecommunications firms with congressional franchises were asked to vote during a public consultation on Friday and 75 percent chose a points-based approach, 16.67 wanted an auction and 8.33 percent abstained, a Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) official said.
