As if the world’s No. 1-ranked golfer needs any help in a major tournament, Justin Thomas might have secured some Tuesday at Bellerive Country Club, site of the 100th PGA Championship in August.
Making a guest appearance in St. Louis to help promote the golf season’s fourth and final major championship, the defending PGA winner played a morning round with club pro Mike Tucker, and with a gallery of Bellerive members and journalists watching the 18th green, Thomas sent the crowd into a flutter with an eagle on the par-4 hole, draining his day’s final stroke from about 150 yards.
