Dozens of high-wattage, high bay lights illuminate indoor arenas such as basketball venues while high-intensity floodlights provide the glow in outdoor sports such as football pitches.
At Bonifacio Gobal City on Saturday, it was more than 3,000 Energizer headlights that lit up the street as athletes, health buffs and running enthusiasts converged for the Energizer Night Race Manila 2013.
Continuing its campaign to raise awareness on the world’s need for safe, clean and affordable solar lighting, Energizer has staged once more a night race that has become the template of night races in the country.
Over 3,000 runners answered the starting gun, all wearing Energizer headlights in the 10-km and 5-km races for a cause. The glowing pack of runners provided a breathtaking sight and showed that small contributions add up to big totals.
“Fifteen million Filipinos do not have access to electricity and we at Energizer want to be part of helping these communities,” Said Cara Ramierz-Tecson, Energizer marketing manager.
Already on its second year, the company has joined hands with One Million Lights to donate Energizer solar-powered LED flashlights to various off-grid communities including parts of Rizal, Mindoro and Zambales in the Philippines, as well as in Latin America, Ethiopia and Kenya, among others.
