For the first time since its four-year run, a record-breaking 3,000 avid and new runners composed of families, children, and even the elderly, joined the annual “Takboparasa Marikina Watershed 2015”.
The fun run, composed of 3-km, 5-km, and 10-km categories, aimed to promote environmental awareness and raise funds for the continuing rehabilitation of the Marikina Watershedwhich was damaged during Typhoon Ondoy in 2009.
The winners in the 3-km category were Vincent Nicoyco and student Pamela Mae Marcelo, while IkaJomao-As and April Quiabao emerged as victors in the 5-km category. Dominating the 10-km category, on the other hand, were Michael Busitu andEmily Nillyguin.
Proceeds of the event will go to the tree-planting and protection programs of the Marikina Watershed Green Foundation Inc.
The event was organized by the Marikina City Government led by Mayor Del de Guzman in cooperation with the Rotary Club of District 3800.
