Around 35,000 supporters welcomed Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao and senatorial candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) when they visited Alabel, Sarangani and General Santos City.
In his speech in Sarangani, Binay vowed to respect the right to life and uphold the welfare of women.
“Hindi kayo magsisi na si Jojo Binay ang inyong iboboto. Hindi kayo magsisisi dahil si Jojo Binay nirerespeto ang buhay ng bawat tao. Hindi kayo magsisisi dahil si Jojo Binay nagbibigay ng respeto at dignidad sa kababaihan (You w ill not regret voting for me. Jojo Binay respects life, Jojo Binay respects the dignity of women),” he said.
The Vice President cautioned voters against choosing candidates who promote violence to address criminality.
“Mag-isip-isip po kayo. Baka magsisi kayo na ang inyong ibinoto, ang kanyang remedyo ay yong pumatay ng kapwa, kahit na bata, magkakapatid (Be wise. You may regret it if you choose someone who will address crime by killing people, including children),” he said.
Binay underscored the need for a leader who has the experience and capability to address poverty and alleviate the lives of Filipinos.
“Kahirapan at kawalan ng trabaho ang kakaharapin ng susunod na pangulo,” he said. “Pangako ko po sa inyo, katulad noong ako’y naging mayor, pag ako ang naging pangulo, lagi kong iisipin kung paano ko matutulungan, kung paano ko maiaangat ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino.”
He vowed that under his presidency, poor Filipinos will receive free medicines, hospitalization, and other health services.
He said students will get free textbooks, uniforms and school supplies.
