THREE soldiers from Cavite made it to this year’s The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) awardees. TOPS is an annual search jointly undertaken by Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and the Rotary Club of Makati Metro that recognizes and pays tribute to the outstanding examples of gallantry, dedication, professionalism and integrity among members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Mujiv Sabbihi Hataman co-chaired the board of judges. The awardees are Capt. Alberto B. Carlos PN, assistant chief of Naval Staff for Logistics at the Philippine Navy Headquarters (Philippine Navy Commissioned Officers category) and Commissary Steward 2nd Class Felix B. Guaves II, assistant team leader/platoon sergeant of the Naval Special Operation Group assigned in Sangley Point; and Sgt. Eugene J. Padilla PN (Marines), team leader and assistant radioman of the 62nd Marine Company in Ternate (Philippine Navy Enlisted Personnel category). They will receive a trophy and P400,000 courtesy of Metrobank Foundation during the awarding ceremony on September 5.
