STO. TOMAS, La Union: The driver and his two passengers of a car died in a road accident which involved three cars along the National Highway in Barangay Patac here, early Friday, Sto. Tomas Police said.
Police Chief Insp. Artemio Infante, La Union Provincial Police community relations officer, identified the fatalities as Raul Cortez, the driver of a Honda City (Plate No. FJK88) and his two passengers, Genilyn Perez and Marie Athen Refuerzo, all residents of Barangay Taberna, Bauang, La Union.
They were rushed to a hospital in Agoo, La Union but were pronounced dead on arrival, from serious injuries.
Investigations revealed that a truck wing van (Plate No. AWC 170) with still unidentified driver, bumped into Cortez’s car, which in turn, hit the aluminum closed van (Plate No. RHD 220) driven by Ryan Novo of Bangar, La Union.
The driver of the truck fled after the accident.
Lawyer Benilda Indasen, in her message, said the fatalities were her clients and that they were relatives.
She added that it helped the Sto. Tomas Police identify the fatalities by informing her of the accident when the lawyer’s name was among the contact persons listed on the SIM card recovered from a broken cell phone of one of the victims.
