Say good-bye to fashion and beauty faux pax now that the Asian version of hit makeover series How Do I Look? has premiered across the region via cable channel Diva.
Billed as “Asia’s ultimate fashion fix,” How Do I Look? Asia debuted on August 31 on NBCUniversal International Network’s entertainment channel for women, under the production of Matchbox Asia.
The show follows Malaysian celebrity and style icon Sazzy Falak as she guides eight fashion victims to the path of fashion enlightenment. Jeannie Mai, host of the original US version, and a familiar face to Asian viewers, is also featured in each episode, setting up fashion challenges week after week.
The fashion-challenged victims include three Filipinas: onesie-addict and blogger Apple; sales executive and literal “plain” Jane, who is also part Australian; and “rebel teacher” Lianni. Joining them are indie rock guitarist Ariana and overachieving, yet outdated Lavinya from Malaysia; mismatched watercolor artist Choc from Taiwan; romantically-insecure Maisarah from Singapore; and un-inspiringly-dressed motivational speaker Yessinta from Indonesia.
To achieve a professional look that can be replicated for the everyday, a guest stylist in each episode will also join Sazzy, namely the Philippines’ very own celebrity stylist Liz Uy; Zac Wu, Taiwanese celebrity stylist; Andrea Wong, former editor of Elle Malaysia; and Anindita Saryuf, fashion director of Elle Indonesia.
The transformations featured on the series transcend fashion and style. Viewers will also get to witness the complex and emotional back-stories of the victims, whose glamorous new looks, and freshly developed sense of style, act as a catalyst for them to adopt a more positive and confident outlook on life.
How Do I Look? Asia airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on cable channel Diva.
