THREE children were killed when their house was destroyed by a fire on Friday night in Cadiz City¸ Negros Occidental.
Reports at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame identified the victims as Francis Pelayo, 6, Marie Pelayo, 3, and Joshua Pelayo of Sitio Aluyan, Barangay Caduha-an.
The reports said the three children were left at home by their mother Jella Pelayo, who together with partnet Kenneth Makilan, went out to look for crabs and shells.
When Jella and Kenneth returned, they saw their house already burning and tried to rescue the children but it was too late.
Initial investigation showed that the fire was triggered by a charcoal stove used for cooking.
