ROSALES,Pangasinan: A driver died instantly while 20 passengers were injured after a mini-bus figured in a head-on collision with a Manila-bound bus early Monday morning here. A tricycle and its driver and three passengers were also hit. Chief Insp. Brendon Palisoc, town chief of police, said Rogelio Reyes, driver of Viron bus of Barangay Bantay Abot, Narvacan town in Ilocos Sur, was pinned to death at the driver’s seat. The injured victims, including a four-year-old boy, were identified as Tirso dela Cruz (mini-bus driver), Jerry Dungca (tricycle driver), Edgar Canezo (bus conductor), Allan Cauguiran, Francis Cauguiran, Josephine Favila, Danny Estabillo, Steve Milan, Elena May Fernando, Everlita Cena, Dominador Feceras, Flora Oca, Edna Reyes, Romeo Cudiamat, Alberto Dioquino, Danny Dioquino, Imelda Dungca, Leonila Laguna, Christian Laguna and Leonita Laguna. Prior to the collision, tricycle driver Dungca said, the minibus driven by dela Cruz was heading southward and overtook their lane and collided with the speeding Viron bus.
