In 1997, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation became the very first car company in the Philippines to introduce the four-door compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) with the Rav4.
Since then, the Toyota Rav4 has undergone upgrades and has grown in size, which has helped it stand out among the competition. And while midsized SUVs like the Fortuner have become the darlings of the Philippine automotive market, there is no doubt compact SUVs like the Rav4 have never lost flavor with those who want a distinctive vehicle that offers both luxury and ruggedness.
And TMP on Monday last week unveiled at the Smith Butcher and Grill Cafe in Makati City the new Rav4 that continues to mirror the active, sporty, youthful and stylish lifestyle of its owners. The iconic name was derived from the first letters of the words recreational, active and vehicle and it being a 4×4.
Four variants available
In order to cater to ever-changing needs and desires of the Rav4 customers, Toyota now offers a new grade line-up for this specific model: the 4×2 Active, the 4×2 Active+, the 4×2 Premium and the 4×4 Premium. The new exterior design aims to capture the essence of a compact SUV’s agile and sporty character by adding a sense of excitement expressed by the Rav4 DNA. Unconstrained and filled with a youthful vibe, the new Rav4 is visually more powerful than ever before as seen in its new front bumper design across all grades.
It is also equipped with a brand new set of stylish 17-inch aluminum wheels and tires with low rolling resistance that contribute to better fuel efficiency. Both the 4×2 Premium and 4×4 Premium, on the other hand, now possess Daytime Running-Lights, LED headlamps and headlamp levelling for a more sophisticated and sportier look.
Powering the all-new Rav4 is powered by the same reliable 2.5-liter with Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent that aims to achieve fuel economy, high engine output and decreased fuel emissions. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The new Rav4 also has the Toyota-signature safety features such as knee airbags aside from its standard front, side and curtain airbags. Moreover, advanced safety features have been added such as vehicle stability control, Hill-Climb Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control.
As the new Rav4 shifts to a stronger and more dynamic version, the premium compact SUV definitely displays the fun and lively image it has always been known for. So customers have four all-new vibrant colors to choose from in this premium compact SUV: Blue Metallic; Orange Metallic; Dark Red Mica Metallic; and Bronze Metallic. Aside from these new hues, the other standard Rav4 options are still available such as the Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Black Mica and a White Pearl color option for an additional P15,000.
