The Manila Times College-Subic (TMTCS) standout Ilyssa Mariella Legaspi won two silver medals in the 73rd Philippine Swimming League (PSL)-Diliman Preparatory School (DPS) national swimming championships held at the DPS swimming pool in Quezon City.
Legaspi, a Grade 8 student at TMTC-Subic, took the second place honors in the girls’ 14 years 50-meter backstroke in 39.66 seconds behind Aquaspeed Sailfish’s Erika Maureen Flaminiano, who submitted 36.60 seconds. Mara Sabina Cruz of St. Scholastica’s College-Manila bagged the bronze (41.78)
Moments later, Legaspi secured her second silver in the 50m butterfly after registering 38.56 seconds. Flamiano topped the event in 36.64 seconds while Cruz settled for bronze anew in 39.63 seconds.
Legaspi placed fourth in the 200m Individual Medley (3:28.78), 50m freestyle (36.25) and 50m breaststroke (48.30).
In the overall rankings, Legaspi wound up third with 29 points while Cruz clinched the Most Outstanding Swimmer award with 40 points. Flaminiano finished second with 30 points.
In other results, Gregg Marasigan of Cavite Sailfish dominated the boys’ 12 years 50m butterfly following his 32.17-second showing. He defeated Sean Cruz of Marikina Aquabears (33.81) and Nigel Anthony Romey of Diliman Preparatory School (37.53), who settled for silver and bronze, respectively.
The PSL is the national sports swimming association for universities and colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP)—an internationally affiliated member of Federation of International Sports University (FISU).
