TOKYO: Tokyo shares rallied 2.76 percent Friday morning, tracking a rise on Wall Street and rebounding from a massive sell-off in the previous session.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index added 343.04 points to 12,788.42 by the break, although gains were pared after jumping 3.57 percent in earlier trade. The index lost 6.35 percent on Thursday.
