• Tokyo stocks down 0.45% by the break


    TOKYO: Tokyo stocks were down 0.45 percent Thursday morning, tracking Wall Street’s fall on the back of weak US economic data while the dollar’s decline against the yen also helped drive the market down.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which tumbled 3.83 percent on Wednesday to finish at a two-month low, was off 59.16 points at 12,955.71 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares declined 0.98 percent, or 10.64 points, to 1,079.39.
