Tokyo stocks up 0.10% by morning break

TOKYO: The Tokyo market’s strong start on Wednesday largely fizzled by the morning break as a stronger yen weighed after investors initially pounced on further signs of a US economic recovery.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which opened 1.26 percent higher, was up just 0.10 percent, or 13.66 points, to 14,325.64 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 1.01 percent, or 11.82 points, to 1,180.09.
