• Tokyo stocks up 0.57% by morning break


    TOKYO: Tokyo stocks continued their rollercoaster ride on Tuesday, casting off early losses to end the morning session 0.57 percent higher as a weakening yen helped push the market back into positive territory.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which was down 1.41 percent at the open, added 80.74 points to 14,223.39 while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was 0.41 percent higher, or 4.70 points, to 1,158.77.
