Toll fees will not be collected from motorists who will use the at-grade and elevated sections of the Skyway System, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), and Star Tollway from 10 pm on December 24, 2015 until 6 am the following day; and from 10pm on December 31, to 6 am on January 1, 2016.
The managements of Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), Manila Toll Expressway Systems Inc. (MATES) and Star Tollway Corporation (STC), the respective operators of the Skyway System, SLEX and Star Tollway, announced that this toll-free privilege is their simple gesture of showing appreciation to motorists who use and patronize their expressways. It is also their way of wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Because of the usual heavy holiday traffic, motorists are advised to plan their trip as the tollway operators are gearing up for the influx of motorists traveling in and out of Metro Manila during the Christmas holidays. Increased traffic is expected from December 19, when most schools will be closed for Christmas vacation, up to January 4, 2016.
At SLEX, traffic build-up could occur at Susana Heights, Santa Rosa, Eton and Calamba, southbound direction; and Carmona, Greenfields, Alabang/Filinvest, both north and southbound directions. At Star Tollway, heavy traffic is seen at the toll plazas in Santo Tomas, Lipa City and Batangas City. Meanwhile, big volume of vehicles have already been traveling on the Skyway System since last month, which is the case as the Christmas holidays approach, not to mention the abnormally heavy traffic in the metropolis in the last few months because of other circumstances.
Motorists are also reminded to keep their vehicles roadworthy to ensure a trouble-free and safe trip. SOMCO, MATES and STC request motorists to strictly observe the tollway speed limit, and other traffic and safety rules even during the toll-free hours.
