Motorists plying the South Luzon Expressway, (SLEX), the Skyway System, and the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (Star) Toll-way will be given toll-free passage on the Christmas and New Year’s eve.
The operators of these toll roads, the Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), Manila Toll Expressway System, Inc.(MATES) and Star Toll-way Corp. (STC) are offering toll-free passage on the said toll roads starting 10 p.m. on December 24, 2014 until 6 a.m. the following day; and from 10 p.m. on December 31 to 6 a.m. on January 1. 2015.
“The toll-free eves of Christmas and New Year has been a tradition followed on the Skyway System, SLEX and Star Tollway for many years as our way of sharing holiday cheers and expressing our gratitude to our motoring patrons,” said Ado Diaz, head of the south toll-way collection group.
Meanwhile, due to the usual heavy Christmas holiday traffic volume, motorists are reminded to strictly observe traffic rules and to keep their vehicles roadworthy for their own safety and convenience and those of other motorists.
SOMCO, MATES and STC are beefing up their traffic, security and safety operations for the long Christmas holiday starting December 21, 2014, when motorists troop to the provinces in the south, until January 4, 2015 when they rush back to Metro Manila.
“To ease queuing at toll plazas especially during the holiday season, dedicated “exact toll” lanes will be opened at Skyway System and SLEX effective December 15, which are strictly for motorists with exact toll payments. Motorists are therefore encouraged to prepare the exact toll every time they pass Skyway and SLEX to avoid delays, ” Diaz added.
Motorists may call the hotlines of Skyway at (02) 776-7777 and MaTES at 0917687-7539 to ask for assistance and report road incidents. STC’s emergency numbers are 043-7567870, 0927-5117827 and 0908-5117827.
