EXECUTIVES and staff of the Skyway O&M Corp. (SOMCO), the operator of the 30-kilometer Skyway System from Buendia in Makati to Alabang in Muntinlupa, earned their ranks from the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) after completing an exhaustive lecture and training program as Army reservists.
The donning of the ranks for commissioned officers and enlisted personnel was led by ARECOM commander, Brigadier General Paolo Leo Ma. G. Miciano, during an event that coincided with the opening of SOMCO’s Health Emergency Management Staff and the Incident Command System training.
The new commissioned officers and enlisted reservists are part of the Skyway O&M Corp. (SOMCO) Philippine Army Affiliated Reserve Unit (PAARU).
After days of lecture and practical training, the newly commissioned reservists, under the 1st 1300th SOMCO Service Support Battalion of the PAARU, are now ready to assist the Philippine Army in responding to specific and major incidents and provide first aid management and survival assistance in times of disaster and disturbance of peace and order, among other emergency situations.
SOMCO is the first among the companies and institutions in the whole of the National Capital Region (Metro Manila) to be affiliated with the Philippine Army as active reservist.
