• Top NPA leader ‘Ka Tribal’ nabbed in Benguet


    CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet: “Ka Tribal”, a high ranking leader of the New People’s Army in the Cordillera region and Ilocos region, with a bounty of P1,850,000 on his head was captured on Wednesday, June, 16, in La Trinidad, Benguet.

    Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez, Cordillera police chief, identified the suspect as Corsio Ganima, 55, a native of Lacmaan, Besao, Mt. Province, who goes by the aliases Ka Tribal and Toy-ob.

    Ganima, was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. by combined forces of the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU-14) and Intelligence Division (RID), Mt. Province Intelligence Branch and members of the La Trinidad, Municipal Police Station (MPS).

    According to Nerez, for the first quarter this year, Ganima was the commanding officer of the Kilusang Larangang Guerilla operating in the tri-boundaries of Abra, Mt. Province, and Iloco Sur (AMPIS).

    Ganima has arrest warrants for six counts of murder issued by Judge Artemeo Marero, the presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 35, in Bontoc, Mt. Province, and for rebellion issued by Judge Manuel Bragado of the RTC, Branch 35, Bontoc, Mt. Province.

    Ganima, together with his men, reportedly ambushed a military convoy that escorted the body of a dead soldier to his hometown in Brgy Tucucan, Mt. Province. The convoy was again ambushed as it returned to Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija passing Sitio, Saddle, Brgy. Talubin in July 14, 2003. Nine soldiers were killed.
