• Top rebel leader captured in Mindanao

ZAMBOANGA CITY: A joint Police and Army raid of a communist rebel hideout in Pantukan, Compostela Valley late Sunday led to the arrest of Jordan Donillo, a member of the New People’s Army politburo.

The 43-year-old Donillo, also known as Ka Noli, is the commander of the NPA main unit Guerilla Front 18 and is believed to be the brains in the attacks against Police and military targets. Several multiple murder, frustrated murder and robbery cases were filed against him.

Donillo, who has a P2.5-million bounty in his head, is reportedly a part of a special rebel operations group that was tasked to track and kill retired Gen. Jovito Palparan. Palparan was earlier captured and is facing charges for allegedly masterminding the murders and disappearances of student leaders, farmers and leaders of progressive organizations.

Lt. Vergel Lacambra, chief of the public affairs office of the 10th Infantry Division, said the raid came after an informant tipped them of Donillo’s presence in Magnaga village, Pantukan.

The NPA has not issued any statement about Donillo’s arrest.
