• Top teams plunge into action as UFL games resume

Top clubs Loyola Meralco Sparks FC and Ceres La Salle FC will be facing separate foes today in the 2016 United Football League (UFL) at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

Loyola, currently seated in the fifth spot with three wins and a loss, will be battling Agila MSA FC at 1:45 p.m.

After notching a convincing 4-0 win over Green Archers United FC on Saturday, the Sparks are looking to go full throttle as they play against the lower ranked Agila.

Against the Archers, Loyola, led by James Younghusband, Joaquin Canas and Jinggoy Valmayor posted a goal to ensure the victory for the club.

This time, Meralco is expected to rely on the prowess of Azkals’ top scorer Phil Younghusband to pierce the defense of their foes while Curt Dizon and Alvaro Castiella will provide additional firepower.

On the other hand, ninth seed Agila will be on a run for win number two as they look to gain momentum following their lucky 1-0 win over the struggling Laos FC over the weekend.

Agila brought home their first three points of the season following a goal by Laos’ Rezziel Villaespin in the 44th minute.

Agila will be banking on the services of college stars led by the Ateneo de Manila University duo of Julian Roxas and Javier Gayoso.

Meawhile, reigning champions Ceres La Salle FC will be meeting Forza FC at 4 p.m.

Ceres, ranked third in the standings, is slated to be heavy on its attacks following a 16-0 demolition of Pasargad FC in their previous match.

Spanish forward Adrian Gallardo Valdes scored eight goals in that game while Filipino-German Stephan Schrock registered a hat-trick performance.

The tenth-seeded Forza will be searching for its debut win.

Forza was handed their third loss in their last game against Manila Nomads SC, 2-1.
