Foton tries to end Petron’s domination of the Philippine Superliga today when it goes for a sweep of the best-of-three PSL Grand Prix championship series at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
The Tornadoes took the upper hand going into Game 2 of the finals following their convincing 14-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22 win over the defending champions Blaze Spikers on Thursday.
Powered by the towering frontline of American imports Lindsay Stalzer and Katie Messing, together with national team mainstay Jaja Santiago, Foton started the initial set sluggish before pulling away in the next three sets.
“The job is not yet done. We’re not yet ready to relax. We’re just one win away. If we need to double our effort in Game 2, we will gladly do it,” said Foton mentor Vilet Ponce-de Leon.
On the other hand, Petron is expected to bank on imports Rupia Inck and Eric Adachi along with local standouts Dindin Manabat, Aby Marano, Ces Molina and Rachel Anne Daquis.
