The third round of the 2016 Touge Battle shifts to the Clark Speedway, Pampanga on Sunday with Hernel Castillo and his Subaru Impreza STi eyeing a third consecutive win in the Turbo+ Class.

Castillo beat Sydney Sarmiento, also driving an Impreza STi, in the second round held on February 7 at the Batangas Racing Circuit, while veteran Chris Cadiz, Michael Pasumbal and Felix Perez topped their respective classes.

“Touge Battle is working hard to be the event every type of car guy of all driver skill levels, who want to take their toys for a bit of safe and friendly competition on the weekends,” said EZ Ligaya of race organizer Aggressive Line.

A total of 21 cars battled it out in the various classes of the Touge Battle round two.

The quickest qualifier for the day during the second round was Paul Perez driving his lime green Honda EK, competing in the Open race class clocking a 1:24.32 in the wet.

Danby Yaptinchay blitzed the track by posting the fastest time of the day in his Cyborg Lancer with 1:17.81 over second placer Paul Perez in his Honda Civic who posted the second fastest time of the day at 1:18.00. Yaptinchay and Perez competed in the Open class.

An interesting side show during the second round in Batangas was a battle against veteran Mike Poten¬ciano, who has a motor sports column coming out in The Manila Times every Wednesday.

“In a showroom stock Mini Cooper, Mike raced against any Touge Battle drivers to see just how they matched up against him. As expected, Mike with his veteran moves around the track were too much for most and beat almost everyone,” Ligaya said.

Touge Battle is like a cat-and-mouse chase type of racing where two cars compete with each other with the winner advancing to the next rounds via knockout system. Two cars take off from the starting line four seconds apart and negotiate a twisty track. The first car that takes off wins the race if it reaches the finish line more than four seconds ahead of the other car. For the second car to win, it must cross the finish line less than four seconds after the first car.

Touge Battle is organized by Aggressive Line events and supported by Autoperformance PH, Vic dealer of Achilles Radial, 2ner Magazine, C! Magazine, Dreamsmed, Inflatable Factory, Legit Manila, Prima Coffee, Rally Parts, Studio 21 creatives, Sushi Factory, Turbo Time, Time Attack Manila, Bridgestone Alabang and SCAG Automotive.
