Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) has assisted in rehabilitating schools devastated by the super typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) in Leyte and Samar through the proceeds of last year’s charitable concert, Toyota Classics. This concert promotes classical music across Asia while making a profound difference in the lives of more Filipinos as ticket sales proceeds are donated to help various humanitarian organizations.
Last year’s beneficiaries were Plan International and Gawad Kalinga. The amount of P2 million was allocated to Plan International, a child-centered humanitaria n organization, bannering education, child health, child protection and youth engagement. The assistance was facilitated by Metrobank Foundation.
Focus of this partnership was to rehabilitate schools damaged by Yolanda in Eastern Visayas. Half of the donation has already been utilized to equip seven schools, furnishing a total of 25 classrooms. Each classroom has 50 armchairs, one teacher’s table, two electric fans, blackboards, audiovisual system, voice amplifier plus other fixtures. The newly-furnished classrooms are now being utilized by over 900 student beneficiaries coming from eight barangays (villages).
On October 16, 2015, TMP shall once again bring to the country “Music That Moves Lives” through the 26th Toyota Classics with International Care Ministries, Gawad Kalinga and Philippine Red Cross as the chosen beneficiaries.
